American animated sitcom Archer was created by Adam Reed and is available on FX. The series follows the adventures of a dysfunctional intelligence agency. Sterling Archer is voiced by H. Jon Benjamin and seven other characters: his mother/boss Malory Archer, Jessica Walter, Lana Kane (Aisha Tye), Cyril Figgis(Chris Parnell), Cheryl Tunt [Judy Greer], Pam Poovey (“Amber Nash”) and Ray Gillette (Adam Reed). The show takes place in an anachronistic Cold War-esque world and mocks espionage and culture as well as the human condition. Archer's artistic innovation is what distinguishes him. He forgoes the traditional workplace sitcom format in favor of self-contained anthologies. After the tenth season, it returned to its spy parody roots.
Archer was created by Reed shortly after the cancellations of Frisky Dingo, an Adult Swim comedy. The show was inspired by Reed's experience in Spain while vacationing under the influence of franchises like the James Bond series. The show's hallmarks include humor that is heavy on pop culture references, fast-fire dialogue, and metacomedy. Archer is animated in a restricted animation style, drawing visually from mid-twentieth-century comic art. The show employs a regular cast to support the roles of supporting actors, while actors record their lines separately. The show has aired 126 episodes since its debut on September 17, 2009. Since 2017, Archer has been broadcast on sister network FXX. The twelfth season premiered on August 25, 2021. The series was renewed in September 2021 for a 13th season.
