Banshee, an American action TV series, was created by Jonathan Tropper & David Schickler. It first aired on Cinemax on January 11, 2013.
The series is set in Banshee, Pennsylvania Amish country. The main character of the series is an ex-con (Antony Starr), who takes on the identity of Lucas Hood (the town's murdered sheriff) to hide from Rabbit (Ben Cross). Hood attempts reconciliation with Anastasia, Rabbit's former lover (Ivana Milicevic), by imposing his own version of justice. Hood has also adopted an assumed identity, married and had a family while Hood was in prison. Hood struggles to keep his new identity, while embracing crime with his partners Job (Hoon Lee), and Sugar (Frankie Faaison), and getting into conflict with Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen).
Cinemax was attempting to create original content. The series was created as part of Cinemax's efforts. In January 2014, a second 10-episode season was launched. Banshee received a renewal for a third season in the same month. It debuted on January 2015. The series was renewed in February 2015 for an eighth episode. It debuted in January 2015.
