Californication, an American comedy-drama television show, was created by Tom Kapinos. It aired seven seasons on Showtime between August 13, 2007 and June 29, 2014. The series follows Hank Moody, a New Yorker who is a struggling novelist and moves to California. His relationships with Karen (Natascha MacElhone) and their daughter, Becca Martin (Madeleine Martin), are complicated by his drinking, drug abuse, and womanizing. Hank's friend and agent Charlie Runkle (Evan Handler), and Charlie's wife Marcy(Pamela Adlon) are the show's main characters. The show's most recurring themes include sex, drugs and rock and roll. They also feature the darker side of Los Angeles. It won multiple awards, including two Emmy Awards (nominated to two other categories) and one Golden Globe Award (5 nominations).
