Eureka, an American science-fiction television series, premiered on Sci-Fi Channel July 18, 2006. The fifth and final season concluded on July 16, 2012. The series is set in Eureka in Southern Oregon. However, the pilot episode was shot in Washington. In the episode "Best In Faux", the origin of the diamond was shown in Eureka (California). The majority of the residents of Eureka work at Global Dynamics, a highly advanced research facility that has been responsible for nearly every major technological breakthrough since its inception. Each episode featured an accidental or deliberate misuse of technology that Jack Carter, the town sheriff solved with the assistance of scientists. Each episode also had a longer story that dealt with a major event or an item.
Andrew Cosby, Jaime Paglia created the series and Universal Media Studios produced it. Although initially not receiving much critical acclaim for its series, Eureka did well in ratings. The show was produced by Universal Media Studios and airs on Syfy.
