Foyle's War, a British detective drama television show, is set in the Second World War. It was created by Anthony Horowitz (Midsomer Murders screenwriter) and commissioned by ITV following the end of the long-running series Inspector Morse. It first aired on ITV in Oct 2002. Simon Shaps, ITV's director of programmes, cancelled Foyle’s War in 2007. However Peter Fincham (Shaps’ replacement) revived Foyle's War after strong ratings for the fifth series.
