Hawaii Five-0, an American procedural TV series about police action, centers on a special police major crime task force that operates at the request of the governor. This series is a remake of Hawaii Five-O, which aired on CBS from 1968-1980. The original series featured the letter "O" in the title instead of "0". K/O Paper Products, 101st Street Entertainment and CBS Productions initially produced the series. The show was then re-produced by CBS Television Studios in season 3.
The series premiered on September 20, 2010 on CBS. It aired on Mondays in its first three seasons. The program moved to Fridays for season 4, and was renewed seven more times. Hawaii Five-0 concluded its seventh season on April 3, 2020 with the 240th episode.
Peter M. Lenkov was one of the show's creators. He created two other police shows, Magnum P.I. and MacGyver, which were remakes of existing TV series. The three shows are set in the same fictional universe. Hawaii Five-0 also had crossover episodes with the other two. Collectively, the three shows are known as the "Lenkovverse". The series is also set in the same fictional universe that NCIS through a crossover event with NCIS Los Angeles.
