Little House on the Prairie, also known as Little House: A New Beginning in its second season, is an American Western historical drama television show. It stars Melissa Gilbert, Karen Grassle and Melissa Sue Anderson. The series tells the story of a family who lived on a farm near Walnut Grove in Minnesota in the 1870s and 1880s. This adaptation is Laura Ingalls Wilder’s bestseller series of Little House books. Friendly, a television producer and ex-executive at NBC, purchased the rights to Wilder's novels film and television rights from Roger Lea MacBride in 1972. Friendly then engaged Blanche Hanalis as a writer for the pilot. Landon agreed to play Charles Ingalls.
