One created the Japanese superhero manga One-Punch Man (Japanese: Wanpanman, Hepburn : Wanpanman). It is the story of Saitama who can defeat any opponent using a single punch and becomes bored when he lacks challenge. The original webcomic manga version was created by One in early 2009.
A digital manga remake began publication on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump website in June 2012. It is written by One, illustrated by Yusuke Murata, and each chapter is compiled into individual tankobon volumes. 26 volumes were published as of June 2022. Viz Media North America has licensed the remake manga to English language release. It has serialized it in Weekly Shonen Jump digital magazine.
From October to December 2015, Japan aired an anime adaptation by Madhouse. From April to July 2019, J.C.Staff produced a second season. It was licensed in North America by Viz Media and premiered in the United States in July 2016 on Adult Swim's Toonami programming section. The second season premiered on October 2019.
The original webcomic manga had surpassed 7.9 millions hits as of June 2012. The manga remake was one of the most popular manga series, having sold more than 30 million copies worldwide by April 2020.
