Revenge, an American drama television series that Mike Kelley created and stars Madeleine Stowe & Emily VanCamp, debuted on September 21, 2011 on ABC. The plot is based on Alexandre Dumas' 1844 novel The Countess of Monte Cristo. It aired its first season on Wednesdays at 10:00 (Eastern) and then moved to Sundays at 9:00 for the second through fourth seasons.
After a 3.3 Nielsen rating for the pilot episode in the 18 to 49 age demographic, the series was picked up by ABC for a full-season. The series was also nominated at the 2012 People's Choice Awards for Favorite New Television Drama. Revenge was ABC's most-watched series in Wednesday's 10pm slot since Lost's 2006–2007 season. It was also the first new series to achieve the same 18-49 demo ratings success as Lost in its time slot since it left the air.
After four seasons on ABC, the series was ended with the last episode airing May 10, 2015. The series finale was viewed by 4.80million viewers. ABC announced on August 4, 2015 that a spin-off series was possible. ABC announced on November 6, 2019 that it was developing a sequel series of the same title. The network did not pick up the sequel series.
