Shetland, a British crime drama television show, was created by ITV Studios for BBC Scotland. It first aired on BBC One on March 10, 2013. The cast also includes Anne Kidd, Lewis Howden and Julie Graham.
The story is set largely on the Scottish archipelago. However, some filming may be done in west central Scotland. In 2021, series 6 and 7 were filmed in Shetland in two sections, each lasting approximately six weeks. The interiors can be shot in Shetland, or in west-central Scotland. In 2016, Henshall was awarded the BAFTA Scotland award as the best actor. Also, the series won the award for the Best TV Drama.
BBC One announced on 2/12/2019 that Shetland would be returning for two more series, 2020 and 2021. O'Donnell and Henshall will reprise their roles. Series 6 aired on 20 October 2021.
