Lost, an American drama television series, aired six seasons on ABC. It lasted 121 episodes. It features elements of science fiction and supernatural, and it follows the story of the survivors of a commercial airliner that crashed on an unknown island in the South Pacific Ocean. It is serialized heavily. The episodes usually have a main storyline that takes place on the island. Flashback and flashforward sequences provide additional insight into the characters involved.
Lost is a television adaptation from the 2000 Tom Hanks movie Cast Away. The show was created by Jeffrey Lieber and J. J. Abrams. Damon Lindelof also wrote the pilot episode. Abrams directed it. Carlton Cuse and Lindelof were showrunners and chief writers throughout the series, along with many other writers and executive producers. The series was a huge success due to the large cast and high cost of filming on location in Oahu (Hawaii), as well as the fact that it cost more than $14 million for the pilot. Lost's fictional universe and mythology were further developed by several related media. These included a series called Missing Pieces and a 12-minute epilogue entitled "The New Man In Charge".
