The Sinner is an American television series that focuses on police procedurals. It was created by Derek Simonds and broadcast on USA Network. The series' name is based on Petra Hammesfahr’s 1999 novel. Bill Pullman plays the role of a detective police officer who investigates crime committed by unorthodox suspects and attempts uncover their motives. Pullman is the only actor to appear in each season. The rest of the cast change for each season's story. Jessica Hecht, however, was a key role in the third and fourth seasons.
The Sinner was originally intended to be an eight-part miniseries. It aired from December 2, 2017 through December 1, 2021. USA Network made it an anthology series after the show's success.
The Sinner's first season received nominations for the Golden Globe Award as Best Miniseries Or Television Film, and Best Actress – Miniseries Or Television Film for Jessica Biel. Biel was also nominated to the Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Movie or Limited Series. Over the course of the series, 32 episodes of The Sinner were aired in four seasons.
